In our search to find God’s will for our lives, we need to look no further than the footsteps of our Savior. They will lead us to an abundant life in this world and eternal life afterwards. We are also blessed with this promise:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23
We walk in His footsteps and He delights as we follow them. Sounds so simple and easy, doesn’t it? That is, until we take all our good intentions to the pathway. Then we find that we often stumble and fall, or stray off the path the Lord has shown us.
But Jesus knows us well. He knows we aren’t perfect. Praise the Lord for including verse 24 in Psalm 37... “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds him with His hand.”
Our forgiving, patient, longsuffering Savior doesn’t walk away in disappointment when we fall or stray – He lifts us back up with his loving hand… all we have to do is reach for it. He also expects us to do the same for others who stumble and fall and disappoint us. Lord, help us not only to receive Your amazing grace, but also give us the strength to extend it to others.
